  I was recently told that some religious teachers say it's ok to hit your wife, gently. Nice eh? Just strike her like Thunderball?
  

  Maybe the teachers think that men's needs are more so they give less.

  Anyway (tongue in cheek alert) here's a video a local congregation put together video as they perform yet another a new Kingdom Melody. They got a great soloist on this. They sing this song when a new elder or MS is appointed.

  We get told about the child abuse cover ups. But some years after I joined the congregation I found out there was some poor sister who had endured beatings from her husband. This man was an elder at the time. Eventually he ditched her and went off with another. She was a kind, hospitable and gentle person.

  Joey jojo - the issue is one of trust. Just like WT's 1914 a message can be spun from statistics which is religious. In this case the value is health. But what are the facts. How reliable are the facts? The figures that go into the statistics - how can you PROVE they are reliable?

  Some ideas to ensure the data is ok - get the figures sent to you. Process it yourself. Have the details of every individual used in the data. Ensure all individuals in the data are actually still alive (or have been born). Scrutinized the figures to ensure demical points are in the right place. Make sure odd 0s haven't been added here and there.

  When receiving data - check the figures looks comparable to at least 3 years worth of exactly the same data - maybe more - try 16 years just in case. If certain numbers are way out, make a phone call to the person who sent it and patiently stand up to them until (having abused you to within an inch of your life) they finally admit they lied to you through their teeth.

  Babies don't even know what age they are. And if the parents lie to them about their age... they have learnt the wrong thing. But as you get older and learn more things you can make an assessment of the facts and make a choice, just like everyone has done throughout history.

  How can a person be born atheist?

  Does it mean they don't believe in maths? Cause they can't do maths immediately after being born.

  Jesus' followers were called the mathete. It means learners. Its a Greek word. In Latin its disciple. The disciples as learners were not atheist, neither was Jesus.

  Critical Race Theory is a postmodern framework by which all institutions and dynamics of society are analyzed in terms of race and hierarchy.

  I'm not certain but I think legislation has been passed in USA to stop Critical Race Theory being used. If you are an organization wanting funding, to get your funding you must not ascribe character traits, values, moral/ethical codes, privileges, status, or beliefs based on race.

  hello all - no 2020 midweek meeting content has been published yet.

  anyone know or hear of what will be changed for 2020 due to the pandemic?

  even my pimi family (i am pimo) is scratching their heads wondering why we are still reviewing content from 2017-2019 that talk about all the future plans, field service, etc etc etc....that have all been derailed due to covid-19.

  Well if you are scratching around for info... I have heard that new ministry arrangements will involve 2 publishers at the door (normal - except for when the family of 5 all want to work together). One stands back and observes the householder's body language to assess whether or not the person is interested.

  So if in days to come you hear that pitter patter of feet at your door, now is your time to put all that excellent training you received at the Theocratic Ministry School to work. You can make good use of gestures and they will try to interpret your gestures.

  You have to learn how to protect your feelings.

  You know it's wrong - don't look to the elders for help and don't recognise their authority. The only authority they have over you is what YOU give them.

  You have not wasted your life, you have learnt a lesson and its good to understand how con tricks are played so you can avoid them happening again. Watchtower is not the only media organisation that plays games with spin and peer pressure.

  Take one day at a time. Respond to the moment rather than trying to think too far ahead. You might forsee things that never happen which make you panic. Treat everyone as you would like to be treated yourself but be cautious.

  I know someone who has just got their ENTIRE family out (multiple generations plus some others and maybe even more to come). The key to getting them out was BE KIND, BE A PERSON OF INTEGRITY and BE PATIENT. Just as you want freedom to think for yourself so does that other person. So don't assume you will lose your family but if the worst should happen:-

  Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - Status Update Thread

  this topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.

  latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.

  the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

  So far in UK I have had x2 reports from people who have had spoken to nurses who work in the hospitals.

  The nurses say that there is very little work taking place in the hospitals.

  One of the nurses said she felt that more was being made of Covid 19 than was necessary.

  A taxi driver who has been running patients to and from a hospital said that he had noticed that the usual long 4 hour plus wait in Accident and Emergency had now gone down to about 2 hours.
